Safety Rules For Your RC helicopter

Safety Rules For Your RC helicopter
Flying RC Helicopters is a lot of fun for people of all ages. To keep it fun for everyone involved, make sure to follow all applicable safety rules, especially those mandated by a RC club or organization, should you belong to one. There are many types of RC helicopters, and their operations vary, but here are a few safety tips to follow:
Before operating an RC copter, always do a pre-flight check, making sure the helicopter’s parts are secure, and the helicopter is properly fueled or charged. This is to keep dangerous parts from flying off into random directions, but also prevent the helicopter from falling in mid-flight. Do not forget to make sure the batteries in the remote are adequately charged, to ensure a good operating signal at all times during flight.
It is important to stand a safe distance away from helicopter before flight and prior to landing, making sure the area is clear of bystanders. Some bystanders, especially children, are not aware of what is happening around them so you have to be their eyes and ears. Do not operate a gas powered RC helicopter indoors, nor an electric one that is not rated for indoor use.
Also make sure that flying conditions are optimal. Overly windy days or other scenarios can hamper flight operations, and result in a terminal crash. When in flight, be sure to avoid obstacles such as trees and power lines, and other helicopters or planes. Remember to be courteous and have fun!
